Direct Support Professionals apply their compassion, creativity and professionalism to empower Attain residents with intellectual disabilities and behavioral problems to achieve their fullest potential. Our team works diligently to ensure goals are tailored to each resident and creates an enriching environment for residents to maximize their potential.

What do Direct Support Professionals do?

Direct Support Professionals assist people with developmental disabilities in activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, tooth brushing, dressing and undressing. Many people with developmental disabilities engage in severe aggression, property destruction, and self injury. Direct Support Professionals will implement behavior programs to minimize the occurrence of problem behavior and to teach replacement skills such as language skills and social skills to replace the occurrence of problem behavior. Additionally, Direct Support Professionals implement skills training programs to teach people with developmental disabilities to be more independent.

Training

Direct Support Professionals receive training in CPR, First Aid, Certification to Pass Medication, Crisis Intervention Training (PCM), 20 Hour Behavior Assistant Training and on-going annual certifications.
